P05: Advances in Atomic Layer Deposition Technologies: Conformal Thin Films and Hybrid Materials for Energy, Electronics and Health       

Precise control of materials interface and surface is a key enabling technology for enhanced performance in microelectronics, optics, photovoltaics, biomedical implants, etc. Especially moving from 2D to 3D surfaces with a well-defined and engineered thin-film composition, homogeneity, conformality as well as ease of fabrication is a paradigm shift in materials integration. Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD), Atomic Layer Etching (ALEt) and related technologies enable a precise thin-film control for a steadily increasing demand of materials and materials combinations. Fundamental studies are needed to provide the necessary understanding for advancing in this growing field and be able to fully implement it in current and future applications. HERALD in 2018

Best wishes for 2018!  Here is an overview of the year ahead in HERALD - please get involved!

  1. A variety of interesting workshops will take place in March
  2. There are still places for lab visits (STSMs) within the HERALD network that should be completed before the end of March 2018.  After that, the final call for STSMs will open in May 2018, for visits to be completed by October 2018.
  3. Save the date for the HERALD Summit in Braga, Portugal, 25-28 September 2018.  This will be the only HERALD meeting in the final period and all are welcome!  Those who hosted workshops and went on STSMs throughout HERALD will be invited to attend and present (with travel reimbursement).  We will summarise the research achievements of HERALD and map out the future direction of our field.
