Personal or laboratory research profile:

The Advanced Energy and Materials Systems (AEMS) Laboratory at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand has been developing the pulsed pressure metal organic chemical vapour deposition (pp-MOCVD) technique for over twenty years. This method is unique to our laboratory, and has been demonstrated on many materials including titania, zirconia, yttria-stabilized zirconia, alumina, mullite, and hydroxyapatite.

We have worked with companies including KOTI Technologies to develop industrial coatings and recently won a $1.3 M grant to continue that collaboration. That research effort has been Gold Star Rated by the New Zealand MBIE funder, just 7% of the 233 funded projects received this rating in 2017.

We have a track record of international collaboration including universities in the USA, France, Germany and the United Kingdom.
