PostDoc position in Atomic & Molecular Layer Deposition

Empa ( is a leading Swiss research institute with focus on innovative materials development. We want to exploit the potential of ALD & MLD to tailor mechanical and electrical properties in multilayer materials as well as to investigate the growth with respect to nucleation and growth modes. Theoretical modelling is integral part to establish materials and synthesis design guidelines.

Your Tasks:

- ALD & MLD process development of thin film multilayer materials.

- Film growth characterization, structural & mechanical analysis.

- publishing in high impact scientific journals.

Your Profile

We are looking for excellent and highly motivated scientists who want to push forward frontiers in thin film materials development. We require a firm knowledge on thin film materials science concepts with active theoretical background. Hands-on based excellent expertise in thin film deposition and characterisation methods as well as in modelling/simulations for the design of experiments is highly desired.

Your work at Empa will proceed in a creative, self-initiative, and team player environment into which we expect you to adapt smoothly having excellent knowledge of English (oral and written) as well as excellent communication skills in general.
